The money raised will go towards providing membership fees in the Brain Injury Association of Montana as well as conference scholarships to the Annual Brain Injury Association of Montana for those TBI Thrivers and their family members able to attend and in need of financial assistance. The conferences themselves are held in a different Montana location each year and provide our support group members (many on fixed disability income) to learn about brain injury disability and new methods of addressing TBI related issues as well as the opportunity to connect with other members of the Montana brain injury community. This support group is an Optimist International Program and meets at the MTCenter on Disabilities at MSU-Billlings every third Tuesday evening of each month. For details contact Ian Elliot at 656-2744. NORTHERN ROCKIES RADIATION ONCOLOGY CENTER AND MEADOWLARK HOUSE PEAKS PROGRAMThe Radiation Oncology Center was founded with widespread community and regional support in 1976. The center, owned by St. Vincent Healthcare, is a non-profit organization treating all radiation therapy patients regardless of their ability to pay. We see approximately 650 patients per year from a service area covering 75,000 square miles of central and eastern Montana and northern Wyoming. PEAKS - "People Everywhere Are Kind and Sharing" - an auxiliary of the Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center, is a volunteer fundraising organization that raises money for cancer patients who are facing financial hardship. PEAKS funds are not applied to bills for cancer treatments, but instead offer a helping hand with lodging, meals, childcare, transportation, household basics and other needs. Meadowlark House is a home-away-from-home for traveling patients actively undergoing cancer treatment with a licensed Billings-area health care provider. Lodging is Free! Guests must have a home address outside Yellowstone County, and a referral from a healthcare professional is required. For more information on PEAKS and Meadowlark House, call the Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center at 248-2212.
